Your Specific Responsibilities:

The Health Educator Consultant will be responsible for the following:

 

This employee will serve as the designated Health Liaison, collaborating with community partners to sustain and expand the Food as Medicine and Access to Care programs through targeted outreach and educational initiatives.

 

The employee will deliver evidence-based curriculum to Marion County residents, focusing on nutrition, physical activity, and chronic disease prevention. They will develop and/or utilize approved educational materials and teaching tools that promote healthy eating and active lifestyles. These materials will be shared through classes, community events, presentations, and promotional campaigns. The employee will also be required to travel to various community outreach events.

 

Responsible for completing and submitting all project reports, ordering, and submitting purchasing orders for annual budgets, and monitoring the budget.

  

Represents the Department of Health at community meetings and serves on councils, boards and task forces in a positive, professional manner. Actively follows program topics across state and national level for trends.

 

The employee assists in Child Passenger Safety checks and installations as needed.

 

Other duties as assigned: to include shelter duty and participation in special departmental events

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Public speaking experience required
  • Knowledge of basic health marketing principles.
  • Knowledge of the budgetary process.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of health education.
  • Knowledge of grant writing
  • Skill in operating a personal computer.
  • Ability to analyze effectiveness of program implementation and identify resources or adjustments needed to meet needs and improve outcomes.
  • Ability to prepare reports
  • Ability to forecast and monitor expenditures
  • Ability to operate audiovisual equipment.
  • Ability to design and produce health promotion and public health educational materials for the media.
  • Ability to develop and deliver health education services.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to utilize computer systems.
  • Ability to plan, develop and deliver health promotion and public health education services

Qualifications:

Minimum-

Experience teaching / presenting to youth or adults

Fl Drivers License

 

Preferred-

Experience working with community partners

Experience working in chronic disease / nutrition

Bachelor's Degree
