Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy Technician
Our client is seeking an experienced Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to join their hospital pharmacy team. This position plays a vital role in supporting pharmacists with medication preparation, distribution, and inventory management to ensure safe and efficient patient care in an inpatient environment.
Schedule: 7-on/7-off, Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Note: An Arizona pharmacy technician license is not required , but candidates must hold an active state license elsewhere and have hospital pharmacy technician experience .
Key Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and packaging medications for inpatient use.
Reconstitute sterile medications and prepare IV admixtures under pharmacist supervision.
Maintain accurate records of medication orders, dispensing activities, and inventory.
Receive, store, and distribute medications and supplies to inpatient units and field clinics.
Support the removal and replacement of expired, recalled, or damaged medications.
Perform monthly station checks to ensure stock accuracy and compliance with safety standards.
Troubleshoot basic issues with pharmacy automation systems and coordinate vendor support when needed.
Provide training and orientation to new pharmacy staff and students.
Demonstrate exceptional customer service while assisting healthcare staff and patients.
Adhere to all hospital, departmental, and regulatory policies related to safety, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Hospital pharmacy experience required; IV admixture experience preferred.
Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) preferred.
Must hold an active pharmacy technician license in any U.S. state.
BLS/CPR certification required within 6 months of hire.
Proficiency with pharmacy management software (RPMS/EHR experience a plus).
Must pass a background investigation and meet requirements under the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (ICPFVP).
Knowledge & Skills
Working knowledge of pharmacy procedures, terminology, and compounding techniques.
Proficiency with sterile and non-sterile medication preparation.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Commitment to teamwork, ethics, and patient safety.
