Peterson Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Utility Superintendent to oversee field operations for underground utility projects throughout the Denver Metro and Front Range. This position is ideal for someone who understands in-street utility work, can lead productive crews, and consistently delivers high-quality storm, water, and sewer installations.
The Utility Superintendent will manage daily operations for mainline utilities, services, structures, tie-ins, and roadway restoration—often in tight urban corridors with heavy traffic and strict safety requirements. Candidates must have a proven background supervising underground utility crews on heavy civil construction projects.
Oversee field operations for underground utility projects ranging from $1M–$10M+
Direct and support crews installing storm sewer, waterlines, sanitary sewer, and related structures
Coordinate traffic control, lane closures, and safety planning for in-street construction
Ensure all work adheres to plans, specifications, and municipal standards
Work alongside project managers, engineers, inspectors, and municipal staff
Track daily quantities, equipment use, labor hours, and production rates
Lead safety meetings and enforce OSHA and company safety requirements
Plan manpower, materials, and daily work sequencing
Assist PMs with RFIs, redlines, change order details, and field documentation
Confirm quality requirements for backfill, compaction, and road patches
8–10+ years of underground utility experience (storm, water, sewer required)
3–5+ years of supervisory experience as a superintendent or utility foreman
Strong experience with trenching, pipe installation, and in-street civil work
Familiarity with Denver metro municipal specifications (preferred)
Confident reading plans, profiles, and alignments
Proven ability to maintain schedule and drive production
Strong leadership, communication, and field organization skills
CDOT experience is a plus, but not required
Colorado market experience preferred but not mandatory
Salary: $110,000–$150,000+ depending on experience
