Role Overview
The Office of the Attorney General of Texas seeks an experienced Agile Scrum Master to lead and coach Scrum teams for planned application development projects. This role emphasizes servant leadership , Agile coaching , and facilitation to ensure efficient delivery and alignment with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies: daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and release planning.
- Coach teams on Agile principles, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Product Owners to ensure backlog clarity and realistic sprint commitments.
- Track Agile metrics (velocity, burn-downs) to drive performance improvements.
- Remove impediments and resolve conflicts impacting team progress.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, IT leadership, and vendors.
- Advocate for Agile best practices and organizational maturity.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years expertise in Scrum and Kanban; ability to coach teams on Agile principles.
- 8+ years facilitating Scrum ceremonies across multiple teams or large projects.
- 8+ years experience collaborating with Product Owners, technical leads, and senior IT stakeholders.
- Skilled in applying team performance metrics for continuous delivery improvements.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- 5+ years proficiency with Agile tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with public-sector IT projects and large-scale systems.
- Coaching Product Owners on backlog management and Agile responsibilities.
Work Details
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CT (may require occasional evenings/weekends).
- Location: 300 W. 15th St., Austin, TX 78701 (Hybrid).
- Travel: Limited; pre-approved per State of Texas guidelines.
