Program Overview

Provide critical communications and tracking for multiple spacecraft from three complexes located globally, and operates year round 24 hours/7days to provide continuous contact with the spacecraft. The program fulfills NASA goals by supporting NASA deep space mission set, including NASA-funded missions and collaborative international missions.

About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Plumber/Pipe Fitter supporting the Deep Space Network DSN)  in Fort Irwin, CA with JPL/NASA.

The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never-before-seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.

The Plumber/Pipe Fitter installs, maintains, and repairs piping systems for potable water systems, sewer systems, LPG lines and plumbing services. 

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and repair the domestic potable water system.
• Maintain and repair the wastewater septic, line and all related systems.
• Responsible for wastewater water sampling.
• Responsible for propane and gasoline/diesel dispensers and selected components of the underground storage tanks.
• Assist with all excavations on the Goldstone site.
• Maintain maintenance records in a PC database.
• Responsible for air compressor distribution lines.
• Responsible for all fire sprinkler piping, heads and pumps. – we no longer maintain the Fire Suppression systems, we can take this out of the JD
• Oversee the work of outside contractors on plumbing and septic related projects.
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-5 years’ experience in related field.
• You must have strong knowledge of technical trade manuals, blueprint reading and of tools and equipment required to perform various plumbing maintenance functions.
• You must be familiar with the Uniform Plumbing Code and AWWA (American Water Works Association) its requirements for new installations, replacement and repair.

• You must be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
• You must possess and retain a valid Driver’s License (Real ID).

Target Salary Range: The rate / range per hour below represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
